Sangue al canile. Una scena terribile: una volontaria è stata attaccata in pieno volto da un pitbull dal nome gentile, Frida, mentre lo portava a fare una passeggiata, e ha rischiato di morire. Portata in condizioni gravissime al Policlinico Gemelli, la donna è stata ricoverata nel reparto di rianimazione e sottoposta a un lungo intervento chirurgico.
L’animale, pur di piccola taglia e dagli occhi dolci, all’apparenza mite, era incontenibile: nel giro di neanche un minuto, la poveretta si è ritrovata con il corpo azzannato in più parti, il volto coperto di sangue, un orecchio staccato e le braccia maciullate. Solo l’intervento di un paio di operatori, che da lontano avevano sentito le grida d’aiuto, ha scongiurato la tragedia. Ma le conseguenze restano gravi.
L’aggressione è avvenuta giovedì 25 marzo nella pensione «Valle Grande», in via Paravia, zona Olgiata, che ospita circa 500 tra cani e gatti, anche grazie a convenzioni con gli enti locali. Amelia Ceci, 65 anni, appassionata animalista, come al solito si era presentata nella struttura all’estrema periferia nord della capitale per dare una mano. Le era stato dato in consegna un pitbull femmina a pelo nero di 4 anni, di nome Frida, per portarlo a fare una sgambata.
L’assalto è stato imprevedibile e violentissimo: l’animale continuava a lanciarsi dove fiutava sangue, anche dopo che un educatore era faticosamente riuscito a bloccarlo. All’ingresso sono accorse due ambulanze, ma le condizioni della ferita erano talmente serie da rendere necessario l’intervento di un elicottero di soccorso. Sulle prime si temeva di dover amputare almeno un braccio. Poi i medici del Gemelli sono riusciti a ricucirlo, grazie a un intervento chirurgico durato oltre dieci ore.
Canile Valle Grande, la chiusura della pensione
«Informiamo il pubblico che, come da richiesta di Roma capitale, il canile è chiuso fino a nuova disposizione». Questo c’è scritto sul sito web dei titolari della pensione «Valle Grande» (che si avvale del supporto della fondazione «Cave canem»). Ma l’annuncio, precisano dalla direzione, era precedente al fattaccio, legato alla pandemia. Alcune ombre sull’accaduto, tuttavia, già fanno intravedere un seguito giudiziario. «Vista la gravità delle lesioni, la Procura procederà d’ufficio – spiega Francesco Desideri, avvocato della FederFida -. Tuttavia noi stiamo ugualmente valutando di presentare una denuncia in base all’articolo 12 bis della legge 81 del 2008 sulla sicurezza del lavoro, da considerare applicabile anche ai volontari, a prescindere se esercitino l’attività per la loro associazione o assegnati ad altri enti. L’obiettivo di una adeguata prevenzione e tutela dell’incolumità di chi si prende cura degli animali va posto in primo piano».
Sulla stessa linea Loredana Pronio, presidente dell’associazione FederFida (ed ex delegata capitolina al Benessere degli animali), che lancia un appello: «L’unico colpevole non può essere il cane Frida coinvolgendo, di conseguenza, la razza a cui appartiene, nel solco culturale della ricerca indefessa di un capro espiatorio. È necessario il rilascio di un patentino, previa adeguata formazione, a chi voglia accompagnarsi con un esemplare di razze particolari. Ciò che è accaduto è gravissimo: è giunto il momento di testimoniare senza timori e reticenze. Esortiamo i volontari e altre persone che siano a conoscenza di quanto occorso nel rifugio “Valle Grande” a farsi avanti e a raccontare elementi utili all’accertamento dei fatti».
Le parole della Pensione Valle Grande
Molto sfumata la prima ricostruzione da parte della direzione. «Lo scorso giovedì alle ore 10 – dice un post pubblicato nella pagina Fb della pensione “Valle Grande” – un volontario con esperienza pluriennale è stato aggredito in una delle aree di sgambamento da uno dei cani ospiti. La presenza costante in canile di educatori cinofili ha permesso di scongiurare l’irreparabile: due professionisti sono intervenuti portando in salvo il volontario e mettendo in sicurezza il cane nel proprio box».
L’intento di rimarcare l’estraneità della struttura è esplicitato in più passaggi. «Il cane che si è macchiato dell’aggressione era stato scrupolosamente valutato e attenzionato dai nostri professionisti con apposito bollino e per questo affidato alle cure di educatori cinofili esperti e del volontario aggredito, anch’egli molto esperto…». Amelia Ceci, dal suo letto al Gemelli, non ha ancora avuto modo di dire la sua. L’animalista, che difficilmente tornerà a prendersi cura di cani mordaci, sarà ascoltata quando si riprenderà. «Tutte le nostre attenzioni e i nostri pensieri vanno al volontario che speriamo con tutto il cuore si riprenda presto», conclude la nota del canile, reiterando il tentativo di dissimulare l’identità della parte lesa, facendola passare per un uomo.
Le parole dell’amministratore del canile
In un secondo momento è intervenuto Benedetto Di Clemente, amministratore del rifugio, per spiegare: «Il nome non è stato pubblicato per una questione di privacy, non abbiamo nulla da nascondere. Siamo stati noi a presentare denuncia di morsicatura alla Asl1, che ha redatto il verbale e disposto l’isolamento di Frida, che tra l’altro è piccolina, pesa circa 15 chili, ed è sempre stata pacifica. Tra una decina di giorni la Asl chiarirà se il cane ha la rabbia ed eventualmente disporrà la visita di un veterinario comportamentalista».
Ma come si spiega tanta aggressività? «Ce lo stiamo chiedendo anche noi. Pensi che il nostro educatore ha faticato a tenerla lontana, facendo scudo per sé e la volontaria con una seggiola. E all’improvviso la cagnoletta è tornata mite e si è fatta prendere al guinzaglio. Amelia, che sta con noi da oltre vent’anni, le era molto affezionata. Sarà uscita con Frida almeno cento volte. È tra le volontarie più esperte, non ha di certo commesso errori. L’unica sfortuna è stata che a causa del Covid nel canile girano meno volontari, e quindi si è trovata un po’ defilata. L’imponderabile, purtroppo, è sempre dietro l’angolo… ».
