La figlia Corinne ha confermato tutto e ha cercato di rassicurare dicendo: “Mio padre è in ospedale. Migliora ogni giorno di più, ma ha bisogno di tempo e di riposo”. Non sono state date ulteriori informazioni sui problemi di salute di Blatter, che da qualche anno è lontano dal mondo del calcio dopo essere stato sospeso da ogni tipo di attività del mondo del pallone per sei anni.
Una vita nel calcio per Joseph detto Sepp Blatter, che ha 84 anni e che per oltre trent’anni ha avuto un ruolo chiave nella FIFA. Dal 1981 al 1998 è stato Segretario Generale, ha atteso l’addio di Havelange per prendere il suo posto e per 17 anni è stato il presidente della FIFA, dal giugno del 1998 fino al giugno 2015, quando fu costretto alle dimissioni dopo un grosso scandalo di corruzione che ha colpito l’organo che gestisce il calcio mondiale, con sette dirigenti che vennero arrestati.
