Partendo dall’Italia, la stessa Aifa è tornata oggi sul tema con una precisazione: “La posizione della Commissione tecnico scientifica è rimasta invariata rispetto a quella espressa nella riunione di sabato 30 gennaio. In attesa di ulteriori studi, l’indicazione per il vaccino AstraZeneca resta preferenzialmente per la popolazione tra i 18 e 55 anni e senza patologie gravi, per la quale sono disponibili dati più solidi“.
L’Agenzia italiana del farmaco ha spiegato di attendere “maggiori evidenze sul rapporto beneficio/rischio del vaccino AstraZeneca prima di suggerirne la somministrazione nei soggetti di età più avanzata”.
Nei giorni scorsi, il vice ministro della Salute Pierpaolo Sileri aveva esortato l’Aifa a rivedere i limiti di età per il vaccino AstraZeneca, dando il via libera agli over 65.

GERMANIA E FRANCIA
Sulla base dei dati attualmente disponibili, questo vaccino in Germania è raccomandato solo per le persone di età compresa tra 18 e 64 anni. Ed è questa la strategia anche della Francia, dove il vaccino AstraZeneca sarà somministrato alla popolazione a partire dalla metà di febbraio. L’Alta Autorità per la Salute ha autorizzato l’uso in Francia del vaccino contro il coronavirus prodotto dall’Università di Oxford e da AstraZeneca. Precisando però che non è consigliabile somministrarlo in persone che hanno più di 65 anni. Terzo vaccino contro il Covid-19 autorizzato in Francia, potrà essere somministrato dai farmacisti. “Mancano i dati per i pazienti over 65, dati che arriveranno nelle prossime settimane. Nel frattempo se ne consiglia l’uso negli under 65”, ha dichiarato il presidente dell’Alta Autorità per la Salute Dominique Le Guludec durante una videoconferenza stampa.
BELGIO
In Belgio, invece, le autorità sanitarie hanno deciso di fare come in Italia. Il vaccino non sarà somministrato a persone di età superiore a 55 anni. La cautela, già adottata da altri Paesi europei malgrado l’Agenzia europea per i medicinali abbia autorizzato il vaccino per tutte le fasce d’età, è dovuta alla mancanza di dati sull’efficacia sugli anziani. Il ministro della Salute, Frank Vandenbroucke, citato dai media locali, ha spiegato che questa decisione, basata sul parere del Consiglio superiore della sanità, è “provvisoria”.
IL NO DELLA SVIZZERA
La linea della prudenza è ancora più demarcata in Svizzera, dove si è deciso di non autorizzare per il momento il vaccino Astrazeneca in quanto “i dati finora disponibili e analizzati non sono ancora sufficienti per procedere con un’omologazione. Occorrono ulteriori dati di nuovi studi per ottenere informazioni sulla sicurezza, sull’efficacia e sulla qualità”, si legge in un comunicato di Swissmedic.
“Sulla base dei dati finora analizzati – prosegue la nota – il comitato di esperti esterni Hmec (Human Medicines Expert Committee) che collabora con Swissmedic ha appoggiato la valutazione intermedia di Swissmedic sul vaccino contro il coronavirus di AstraZeneca nella riunione straordinaria del 2 febbraio 2021. I dati attualmente disponibili non consentono ancora di prendere una decisione positiva sul rapporto rischi/benefici”.
“Per giungere a una valutazione finale – si legge – è necessario che il richiedente presenti, tra l’altro, ulteriori dati sull’efficacia provenienti da uno studio di fase III in corso in America del Nord e del Sud e che questi vengano quindi analizzati. Non appena i risultati saranno disponibili, si potrebbe procedere molto rapidamente con un’omologazione temporanea nella procedura di rolling review”.
POLONIA E SVEZIA
Nemmeno Polonia e Svezia somministreranno il vaccino AstraZeneca alle persone più anziane. Michal Dworczyk, che dirige il programma vaccinale polacco, ha annunciato che il paese utilizzerà il vaccino solo per le persone di età compresa tra i 18 ei 60 anni. Il tutto in seguito a una raccomandazione delle autorità sanitarie del paese. Mentre l’Agenzia per la Salute Pubblica di Stoccolma afferma come i dati della società britannico-svedese non siano sufficienti per valutare l’efficacia della vaccinazione nella fascia di età indicata. Qui per gli over 65enni verranno usati due vaccini già approvati e attualmente in uso, quelli prodotti di Pfizer / BioNTech e Moderna. Soren Andresson, che lavora al programma di vaccinazione nazionale, in conferenza stampa ha affermato che la decisione è in linea con quella di altri paesi come la Germania e l’Austria, che hanno entrambe citato la mancanza di dati per poter effettuare una valutazione certa.
GRAN BRETAGNA
Per quanto riguarda la Gran Bretagna, al centro di un contenzioso con l’Unione Europea per quanto riguarda la consegna delle dosi da parte di AstraZeneca, il vaccino prodotto dall’Università di Oxford ha ottenuto il via libera con largo anticipo e la somministrazione alla popolazione è iniziata già da un mese.
