Lutto per Mika – Aveva condiviso in Tv la malattia della madre, colpita da un cancro e dal Covid-19, ad aprile. Ma solo ora ha voluto annunciarne la morte, risalente a dicembre.
Il cantante britannico Mika ha reso noto il decesso della madre Joannie nel corso di un’intervista a Le Parisien, pubblicata il 4 febbraio, alla vigilia della messa in onda su France 5 del concerto registrato all’Opéra royal di Versailles lo scorso 16 dicembre.
Mamma Joannie, pur se in sedia a rotelle, volle partecipare a quel live, ha ricorda l’artista, ma pochi giorni dopo se n’è andata. “In un certo senso, stavo facendo quel concerto per lei, – ha aggiunto. – Era orgogliosa di quello che sono diventato”.
“Tutta la mia famiglia era presente a quel concerto, – ha riferito l’artista a Le Parisien, – anche mia madre, che era lì su una sedia a rotelle. In un certo senso, stavo facendo quel concerto per lei. Se ne è andata poco dopo, sicuramente orgogliosa di quello che sono diventato”.
Proprio sua madre, come Mika ha spesso raccontato, lo aveva sempre incoraggiato nella musica, fin da quando era bambino. “Non prendere mai la strada più facile facile, continuare a non porsi limiti nella creatività e negli orizzonti: questo è quello che mi ha trasmesso”, ha concluso.
All’Opéra royal di Versailles, lo scorso 16 dicembre, Mika si è esibito in un inedito concerto di musica classica, acustica e intima: l’occasione per il cantante di una nuova sfida, viaggiando tra generi ed emozioni.
Per questo evento, l’artista britannico-libanese si è circondato di grandi nomi della musica classica. Commentando quest’esperienza a Le Parisien, Mika ha sottolineato: “Era puro. Non c’era uno strumento amplificato, non abbiamo nemmeno collegato una chitarra. L’orecchio richiede tempo per abituarsi”.
La musica classica ha d’altronde segnato il suo debutto, poiché il suo primo lavoro è stato quello di esibirsi alla Royal Opera di Londra, dall’età di 8 anni fino ai 15, prima di entrare al Conservatorio di Londra.
