Palù frena l’allarme sul possibile lockdown. Il virologo Giorgio Palù riporta il suo pensiero in merito a quanto sta accadendo tramite una intervista al Corriere della Sera. Ecco le sue parole riportate da Agi.it: “C’è tanto allarmismo. E’ indubbio che siamo di fronte a una seconda ondata della pandemia”. Fotografa così la situazione odierna il professor Giorgio Palu’, un’autorità indiscussa nel campo della virologia, professore emerito dell’Università di Padova e past-president della Società italiana ed europea di Virologia, che in un’intervista al Corriere della Sera annota che “la circolazione del virus non si è mai arrestata, anche se, a luglio, i casi sembravano azzerati, complice la bella stagione, l’aria aperta, i raggi ultravioletti che uccidono il virus”.
Secondo il sanitario, i casi di aumento del contagio vanno trattati, appunto, come casi di “persone positive al tampone”, cio’ che significa che fra questi “il 95 per cento non ha sintomi e quindi non si può definire malato“. Secondo poi, “è certo che queste persone sono state ‘contagiate’, cioè sono venuti a contatto con il virus, ma non è detto che siano ‘contagiose’, cioè che possano trasmettere il virus ad altri”.
Quindi? “Potrebbero farlo se avessero una carica virale alta, ma al momento, con i test a disposizione, non è possibile stabilirlo in tempi utili per evitare i contagi”, ragiona il virologo. Allo stesso tempo, persone “positive” che non sono “contagiose”, potrebbero esserlo perché “potrebbero avere una carica virale bassa, perché potrebbero essere portatrici di un ceppo di virus meno virulento oppure perché presentano solo frammenti genetici del virus, rilevabili con il test, ma incapaci di infettare altre persone”.
La verità, secondo Palu’, è che “quello che veramente conta è sapere quante persone arrivano in terapia intensiva: è questo numero che da’ la reale dimensione della gravità della situazione. In ogni caso questo virus ha una letalità relativamente bassa, può uccidere, ma non è la peste“, e si dice anche “contrario come cittadino al lockdown“.
Perché, spiega “sarebbe un suicidio per la nostra economia; come scienziato perché penalizzerebbe l’educazione dei giovani, che sono il nostro futuro, e come medico perché vorrebbe dire che malati, affetti da altre patologie, specialmente tumori, non avrebbero accesso alle cure”.
Poi il virologo conclude: “Tutto questo a fronte di una malattia, la covid-19, che, tutto sommato ha una bassa letalità. Cioè non è così mortale. Dobbiamo porre un freno a questa isteria”, consiglia.
